A Taste of Traditional Christmas Comes to Essex.

Get into the festive spirit with a visit to The German Market, returning for another Christmas season with more than 30 handcrafted chalet-style stalls, traditional German food and drink, artisan gifts and festive decorations.

Established in 2015, the market takes its inspiration from traditional German Christmas markets. Browse stalls filled with carefully selected products, including carved wooden decorations, glassware, baubles, traditional cuckoo clocks and handcrafted gifts, with many items sourced directly from craftspeople in Germany.

Of course, a German market wouldn’t be complete without plenty to eat and drink. Look out for Bratwurst, Frankfurters, Sauerkraut, waffles, apple strudel and Schokokusse, along with German bottled beers, homemade spiced apple drink and traditional Glühwein.

New for 2026 is the Market Tavern, serving a selection of cheeses including raclette, Glühwein, spiced apple drink and beers on tap. Also new this year are a Bratwurst Hut and Schokohut, plus Bavarian curling.

With free admission and free parking, you can visit as often as you like throughout the festive season – no tickets are required during normal opening hours.
