On 22nd March 2022 Churches Together in Burnham on Crouch commemorated the 2nd Anniversary of the National Coronavirus Pandemic Lockdown with a short service of Reflection held by the Beacon on the Quay which included the National One Minute Silence at 12 noon.
The Revd. Anne Sardeson, minister of Maldon, Burnham and Southminster URC, supported by other minsters in the town, led the All-Faith service in front of approximately 50 local residents.
She asked people to remember how the lockdown had affected them, to remember all those who had suffered during the Lockdown and to give thanks for all those who had supported the community during the Lockdown.
Before and after the Silence she asked everyone to join in singing a Kyrie Eleison from Ukraine, made all the more poignant by being unaccompanied.
Revd. Anne closed by highlighting the beauty of the world we live in and the need to care for it and reduce the effects of Climate Change.
St Mary’s Church was bathed in Yellow Light on Tuesday 22 and 23rd to remember the effects of the pandemic on our lives.
