THE CHIP INN
Traditional Family Run Fish and Chip Shop
Below is an Article Published in The Maylands Mayl Magazine back in April 2017
On the 1st May 30 years ago (1987) Jean Carey and Fred opened The Chip Inn in Mayland. The family business has been serving their delicious fish and chips, kebabs and a variety of other food ever since.
David Carey took over the running of the shop five years ago (2012). He has been involved in the business since it opened and has seen Mayland grow from 1,500 people to over 4,500. The business has grown along with the number of residents. They started with two fryers and they now have five.
They cater for all the family and provide special children’s meals as well as offering a discount for pensioner’s fish and chips every day. Whilst waiting for your order you can browse through a number of donated books for sale, which raise money for Essex Air Ambulance and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
