Explore the grounds at Beeleigh Abbey which is open each month on a limited number of days.
You will see three acres of beautifully maintained gardens in a historic countryside setting, with mature trees surrounding the many plant and water features.
There are also woodland walks leading to the tidal River Chelmer, Beeleigh Falls, cottage & bog gardens, along with an extensive formal rose garden filled with over 300 English roses, kitchen & soft fruit garden, orchard, wildflower meadow, wisteria walk, and stunning 85 metre long mixed border displays. The extensive lawn contains the remains of a 12th century abbey incorporated into a mainly 17th century private residence, with an ornamental glasshouse & herb garden. Scenic backdrop of remains of 12th CenturyC12 abbey incorporated into the private house.
A new feature for the gardens from 2021 is the new Tea Cabin and Courtyard refreshment area. Buy refreshments including hot and cold drinks, cakes and rolls from our Tea Cabin and courtyard area.

Free Community Festival A whole Day of Fun Activities to Celebrate the Queen’s Baton Relay Maldon District Council will be hosting a free, community festival on Friday 8 July to celebrate the
Maldon District Council will be hosting a free, community festival on Friday 8 July to celebrate the arrival of the Queen’s Baton Relay to the District.
UFest, will feature activities, stalls and events for the whole community, focusing on health, wellbeing and fun.
Activities will begin at 11am and run through into the evening with a stage line-up of musicians and entertainment, a food court and a Community Marquee with local organisations, sports clubs, schools and businesses offering fun engagement activities for everyone to enjoy.
One of the highlights of the day will be the arrival of the Queen’s Baton relay in the afternoon. The Baton contains a message from Her Majesty The Queen to the Commonwealth and has been carried around the
world on a 294-day, 90,000-mile journey. It will reach its final destination at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on 28 July, where the message will be read out at the start of the Games.
When the Baton arrives in Maldon it will be carried by 10 specially chosen Batonbearers on a 2km course around Promenade Park, including paying a visit to the statue of Saxon hero Byrhtnoth, before concluding
on the UFest stage.

Tillingham Flower Show is back! The show kicks off with a procession through the village, starting from the top of Manor Road in Dengie. The procession includes Tillingham fire crew
The show kicks off with a procession through the village, starting from the top of Manor Road in Dengie.
The procession includes Tillingham fire crew with their fire engine, vintage cars, tractors, dancers, Tillingham Tigers FC, fancy dress and floats.
The Grand Parade leaves the Dengie Straight at 1pm to arrive at the West Field at approx 2pm. There are seven awards to be won in the parade for floats, best adult, best child and group awards.
The parade will include floats, dancers, Tillingham fire engine, vintage tractors and cars, sports cars, fancy dress, dancers and more!
Over on the field, there will be plenty for everyone! Highlights include a Dog Show, dog scurry, dance performances, Tillingham Tigers penalty shoot out, the Tillingham Stocks, donkey rides, tug of war, ice cream van, plenty of food & drink options, crafts, and two tents bursting with horticultural and handicraft entries.
New for this year is a Pimms & Prosecco Tent and a Horsebox Bar.
A Best Dressed House and scarecrow competition will also be taking place over the weekend.
